Read (text, images, PDF, notebooks), Write, Edit, MultiEdit (a file that isn't UTF-8 is refused with its likely encoding, UTF-16 or Latin-1, and an iconv command to convert it; a Write or Edit whose arguments arrived as broken JSON, likely cut off, isn't run on a repaired guess: the model is asked to resend it in smaller pieces), NotebookEdit, Glob, Grep (ripgrep), Ls, RepoMap (a ranked, token-budgeted map of the project's symbols (functions, types, classes, modules), most-referenced first, for getting oriented in a large or unfamiliar tree before grepping; path limits it to a subdirectory, tokens sets the budget, default 1024), SemanticSearch (vector search over the codebase: files are split into overlapping chunks and embedded through the [embeddings] provider, the vectors are cached under ~/.chanto/cache/embeddings/ and refreshed when a file changes, and results are ranked by cosine similarity; query is required, k (default 8) and path are optional), Bash (persistent cwd inside the project and --add-dir/additionalDirectories directories: a command that ends outside them, like cd /, leaves the shell back at the project root and the output says Shell cwd was reset to <root>; CLAUDE_BASH_MAINTAIN_PROJECT_WORKING_DIR=1 (or CHANTO_BASH_MAINTAIN_PROJECT_WORKING_DIR) starts every command at the project root, timeouts, background shells via BashOutput/KillShell; runs through bash on Unix, with your shell's PATH, variables, aliases and functions (see Your shell setup in Bash), and through a bash/PowerShell/cmd on Windows, whichever exists (override with CHANTO_SHELL); files a command changed show as a diff), Monitor (runs a command in the background and hands each line it prints to the model as it arrives, so it reacts to a log, a file change or a CI status without polling; ends when the command exits or at timeout_ms, default 5 minutes, at most 30 (10 in -p runs, which wait for the watch to finish); it is a background shell, so /bashes, BashOutput and KillShell see it, and Bash(...) permission rules apply to its command), CronCreate/CronList/CronDelete and ScheduleWakeup (in-session scheduled prompts and the self-paced /loop; offered in the TUI and the --plain REPL only, and not at all with CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_CRON=1), WebSearch, WebFetch, Browser (Chrome over CDP: navigate, snapshot with element refs, click, type, keys, screenshots for vision models, tabs, JS eval), Computer (opt-in desktop control: screenshots, mouse, keyboard, apps; see Computer use), TodoWrite, Task (subagents with their own context), AskUserQuestion, ExitPlanMode, Skill
